I wanted to try my hand at painting next alongside the pen and ink stuff and chose acrylics as there’s such a lot of different things you can do with them. Well in theory… I’m just sort of making it up as I go along but having Sharon here really helps as she’s always suggesting different things I can try. I started copying a couple of paintings out of various books I have and the first attempt came out surprisingly well.. Used just rough pieces of board with white emulsion as a primer and came up with these two ..
I love gargoyles and grotesques and really want to try and incorporate this into my make-up course at some point but started by trying to paint a few first from photos I found.
I love doing portraits and find it a real challenge to get not only a likeness but some character into the painting. Not sure if I’ve achieved it yet but I’m just happy continuing to try 🙂
These are absolutely outstanding, brit! I knew you were talented, but…wowsers!
